The Levin Camera Club

The Levin Camera Club is an incorporated society, affiliated to the New Zealand Photographic Society. We meet on the fourth Tuesday of the months January to November at 7.15pm in The Gallery, Thompson House, 4 Kent Street, Levin.

Ronbu's Demonstration
Selective lightening of the hills has had the effect of balancing the exposure better. While not as good as the full HDR treatment it is a way of On the left is the original image. On the right is a copy with perspective correction & straightening applied to make the verticals look more natural. Some sharpening has also been used to remove softness introduced during processing. The copy is also cropped (particularly on the right) as a necessary part of the perspective correction process. Here's the image Band of color by protector with a little light introduced under the hat brim to bring out the detail aroung the eyes and give the viewer better 'contact' with the subject. A touch of sharpening has also been done to take away a little softness in the original. Here's the cargo ship with the horizon straightened so that the ship is sailing level. Compare this with the original in the Big and Small album. Obviously to do this properly one needs to start with the original image as probably the very first adjustments made. Any image that has definite lines that should be either horizontal or vertical need this straightening adjustment except in the circumstance where the tilt is so exaggerated that it is apparently intentional. Here's your leaf image with the distracting strip across the top cloned out. This allows the viewer to concentrate on the leaf without the darker band across the top tending to pull the eye away from the main subject. Small changes can sometimes considerably strengthen the impact of an image.
